The Local CDL Driver ensures the safe and timely transportation of goods between designated locations. This position requires a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A or B as required for the vehicle operated.
- Clean driving record with no recent violations or accidents.
- Ability to pass DOT physical examination and drug screening.
- Knowledge of local traffic laws and regulations applicable to commercial driving.
- Experience operating commercial vehicles in a local delivery environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and GPS navigation systems.
- Familiarity with warehouse operations and basic cargo handling equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts.
- Strong customer service skills and experience interacting with clients during deliveries.
- Additional endorsements on CDL such as Hazmat, Tanker, or Doubles/Triples.
- Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Operate commercial motor vehicles safely and efficiently on local routes, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Load and unload cargo, ensuring proper handling and securing of freight to prevent damage during transit.
- Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to identify and report any mechanical issues or safety concerns.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, paperwork, and electronic records in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and customers to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any issues promptly.
